GRITtv: Remembering Howard Zinn
“You can’t be neutral on a moving train,” Howard Zinn famously said. He didn’t believe in staying closeted in the academy, though he was a brilliant historian whose book, A People’s History of the United States: 1492 to Present changed the way many people view history. Recently, a documentary based on his work, The People Speak,...

Lawrence Lessig - 8 minutes on Obama’s first year.
“An analysis of what’s really accounts for the failures of this past year, and why regardless of your politics, you should be pushing for real change.”

“Black and white was attractive for several reasons. I could develop the film myself. But of more importance, I could take the [Navy] Yard out of time. I did not have to worry about blue plastic tarps and day-glow warning signs. The Yard that I shot could be shown as layered in time but it could still pivot about the 1940’s. I’m not sure that I could have attempted that with color film.

100% of UNICEF donations going to Haiti.
servemyworldblog:
One of my friends asked, “Who do I donate to for Haiti?” I’ve been obsessed with Aid and Development blogs and have been reading them for a while now and I learned this: Always go with someone who has EXPERIENCE in the country, who knows the culture and the political structure. UNICEF has been in Haiti since 1949.
100% of your donation goes directly to Haiti. As Caryl Stern,...
